Illinois Horse Rescue of Will County
Our Mission
We at the Illinois Horse Rescue of Will County strive to represent both horse and human interests by creating a forum which promotes personal growth through equine interaction and care, as well as learning and rehabilitation. This unique forum supports an environment of unconditional love and companionship in which rescued horses and people can work together towards healing each other. Both humans and horses gain a solid purpose, thereby strengthening their ability to be a positive force in the lives of others and of themselves.
The Illinois Horse Rescue of Will County started out quite simply as a horse rescue. Our location in a rural area south of Chicago afforded us the space to house large animals, and our founder's childhood experience living on a horse farm gave us the knowledge to care for them. Our organization was created with confidence and a solid plan. A plan to bring shelter, safety and hope to abused and neglected horses. What we hadn't included in our plan was the many other ways our help was needed.
Less than a year after establishing our non-profit, we received the first call to rescue an animal that wasn't a horse. The Will County Animal Control showed up at our barn door with five beautiful tabbies that'd been found wandering alone and with no apparent destination. While we hadn't been expecting to take in cats, we couldn't turn away the plea for help in those green eyes knowing full well that we could save their lives. We haven't turned away any animal in need since her arrival. Horses are still in need of our help and we continue to rescue them, but we have helped other animals just as often and in larger numbers. We've rescued, rehabilitated and adopted rabbits, chinchillas, guinea pigs, birds, hamsters, rats, reptiles and dogs, to name a few. We provide these animals with emergency medical care and rehabilitation, as well as boarding and placement services.
Having access to so many lovable animals, we felt that it was our responsibility to educate our community about the important role that animals can play in their lives. We started a Community Outreach program and have partnered with schools, churches and other local organizations to spread the positive effect that these animals have on the human condition. Visitors are welcome to our barn to learn about the different types of animals and the care required keeping them happy and healthy. We also take animals to those who aren't physically able to come visit us.
At the Illinois Horse Rescue, we aid any animal that has been hurt, neglected or let down by a human in some way. Why do we go out of our way to help those who have no voice to thank us? Because these animals give back so much more than they take. They bring love, joy and fulfillment to people's lives. We help them so that they may one day have the chance to feel loved by someone.

What Vehicle Donors are Saying...
Donors Share Their Experience with Donating a Vehicle:
"I wanted to take a moment to email the two of you to express how easy this process was to donate my car... [They] took the time to answer all my questions, allowed me to contact [them] directly when I had follow-up questions, and even helped me by phone fill out the necessary forms that I needed to complete the transaction with the DMV." - Monica M.
