HOW TO HANDLE THE LICENSE PLATES WHEN YOU DONATE A CAR, TRUCK, SUV OR OTHER STANDARD VEHICLE IN DELAWARE
Please remove the license plates of your donated vehicle before the pick-up. Plates stay with owner. The owner may retain plates or transfer to another vehicle (fees will incur for retention or transfer). *Please note that if the license plate is not returned or retained with the DMV by the seller, they may run the risk of receiving violations.

There are two ways in Delaware to notify the DMV that you have donated your car: by mail or in person. Currently, there is no option available online. You can find more information and forms for each notification method below:
1. TO COMPLETE THE SELLER'S REPORT OF SALE IN PERSON:
- Please complete the back of the registration card or the Seller's Report of Sale (all new titles have a detachable Report of Sale located at the bottom of the title).
- Submit to your local field office. Click HERE to locate your local field office.

2. TO COMPLETE THE SELLER'S REPORT OF SALE BY MAIL:
- Please complete the back of the registration card or the Seller's Report of Sale, or you may print and complete a Vehicle Transfer Notification Form.
- Mail completed Seller's Report of Sale or Transfer Notification form to:
