HOW TO HANDLE THE LICENSE PLATES WHEN YOU DONATE A CAR, TRUCK, SUV OR OTHER STANDARD VEHICLE UTAH:
Please remove the license plates of your donated vehicle before the pick-up. Plates stay with owner.

There are four ways in Utah to notify the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) that you have donated your car: online, by mail or fax, or by phone. You can find more information and forms for each notification method below:
1. TO REPORT THE VEHICLE AS SOLD OR TRANSFERRED ONLINE:
*PREFERRED METHOD* If possible, we highly recommend completing forms online instead of by mail, so you may easily save and print out a copy for your records that includes a date/timestamp.

2. TO REPORT THE VEHICLE AS SOLD OR TRANSFERRED BY PHONE:
- Please call the DMV at 1.800.DMV.UTAH (800.368.8824).
3. TO REPORT THE VEHICLE AS SOLD OR TRANSFERRED BY MAIL OR FAX:
- Please mail or fax written notification of your vehicle donation, including the vehicle year, make, plate or vehicle identification number, and the owner's signature.
