Report a Sold or Transferred Vehicle (Registration Cancellation)
There are 4 ways in Utah to notify the DMV that you have donated your car: online, by mail or fax, or by phone. You can find more information and forms for each notification method below:
1. TO REPORT THE VEHICLE AS SOLD OR TRANSFERRED ONLINE:
*PREFERRED METHOD* If possible, we highly recommend completing forms online instead of by mail, so you may easily save and print out a copy for your records that includes a date/timestamp. Also, when completed online, a receipt can be printed ensuring it's been received.

2. TO REPORT THE VEHICLE AS SOLD OR TRANSFERRED BY PHONE:
- Please call the DMV at 1.800.DMV.UTAH (800.368.8824).
3. TO REPORT THE VEHICLE AS SOLD OR TRANSFERRED BY MAIL OR FAX:
- Please mail or fax written notification of your vehicle donation, including the vehicle year, make, plate or vehicle identification number, and the owner's signature.

LICENSE PLATES
Please remove your license plates from the vehicle. Plates stay with owner.
